The "Bottom Dog" as it is locally known is on Oldham Road (half a mile south on the same road as the "Top Dog", the Dog and Pheasant). It stands alone conspicuous near a busy junction with its own car park and outside seating. Victorian in build it was a Whitbread tenanted house run for decades by the Gartside family, only finishing in the early 20 hundreds. The present owner(s) took it on after a series of closures and have a clear idea on how it should be food led but are keen to encourage real ale drinkers. Currently this is limited to one hand pump. Mr Eggs artwork can be seen on the side wall (see main photo). Worth a visit!
