Reopened in August 2019 following an extensive refurbishment. Now a very impressive plush open-plan food-led pub, with a games room and separate drinking area for those who do not wish to eat, where sport is shown on TV. The name derives from the Astley Deep Pit (supposedly the deepest coal-mine in Britain) Disaster of 1874 as the miners who lost their lives all drank at the pub. Opening times may vary.
